Amanda & Derek September 6th 2008

This wedding was shot on September 6th, 2008. Amanda & Derek were a really fun couple. I had the pleasure of photographing this wedding with my business partner at Creative Studios, Johnny Eaker. It is extremely rare to find both of us at the same event. Since both of us were at this wedding I was able to spend a little more time with the groom getting some interesting shots of just him. I posted 34 images from this wedding, as I was having a hard time trying to delete anymore than this.

Here we have a classic mirror shot of the bride getting ready in black & white.

The wedding day is often fast pace, with the bride in motion above I think this is a good reminder of how photographers try to "stop time" so that you can relive it later.

These next four are of the flowers, which were absolutely incredible.

Here are some of the shots of just Derek getting ready and unique portraits of him.

I love that Derek's parents and brother are in the back ground, his family seems extremely close, so it was important to incorporate them into this photo. I wanted this image to tell more of story instead of just someone standing in front of pleasing scene

I have to give credit to Johnny for setting this bridal image up, when I saw it I knew I needed to take this picture.

What a beautiful father daughter moment.

The way the light was hitting the programs I knew this would make a powerful image about the anticipation and the building momentum of the wedding yet to come.

Every now and again I experiment here is my new depth of field portrait, bringing the focus to Derek, yet not forgetting that the groomsmen will always be there with him.

Another classic groom portrait.

The walls in the church are really this color! I loved it so much I knew Derek would contrast well against it, therefore, I had to use it :)

Here we have father of the bride watching his daughter put a few finishing touches on before heading out the door to walk down the aisle.

Amanda reads a note from Derek.

Derek seeing his bride for the first time that day as she walked down the aisle.

Together at last.

What a remarkable cake in the middle of the dance floor at the Columbia Country Club.

I stole these shots while Amanda & Derek were waiting to be announced at the reception.

First Dance
Here are some photo journalistic moments.
I love his face, not sure if he is happy or yelling at Amanda, but my wife and I laugh each time we look at it, it is one of my favorites.

Thank you Amanda & Derek for having us apart of your day.

Senior 2009 - Josh

Two weeks ago I took these senior photos of Josh, a very cool kid from the small town of Harrisburg, MO. We took these photos at Rock Bridge State Park & around the town of Harrisburg. Since the session I've been busy editing videos so haven't had the time to edit photos. So I quickly grabbed these eight photos in no particular order to give Josh and his mom a glimpse of what's to come. It seemed every image I clicked on appeared to be ROCK STAR, I'd like to say it was all me, however, Josh was a lot of fun to work with too. So Susan & Josh just wait until you see the rest, hope you enjoy...

I love the color in these baseball pictures

On the next picture below I love playing with depth of field, by blurring out the subject and only leaving part of the photo, in this case, the ball in focus.

Yes, Josh plays all these sports!!

I experimented with some colorization on this one below, I really like how it turned out.

Again with the color and extreme angles, can I say B.A. during a senior session? (Yes he is also that tall or maybe, I'm just really short)

Had to go with the classic custom black and white, no flat images here :)

Probably my favorite yet, again with the depth of field.

Hope you enjoyed the preview of what's to come.

Session One for Jack's Baby's First Year Collection

A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of photographing baby Jack. The session was shot in his home and the images turned out really well. As you can see below Jack's big blue eye just stare at you. Makes me wonder what babies are thinking. What can I say about Jack? Well he is adorable and a very handsome baby boy. I'm know his parents are very proud as they should be. Well back to work, meanwhile, enjoy the photos. I've got many more recent sessions and weddings to publish so check back soon. ~shan

Senior Session

Here are some photos from one of my last senior sessions of Kaitlin, she attends Hickman High School in Columbia. I didn't get the chance to post anything sooner because my son was born right after the session. I love the color in these photos.

There is this cool black wall in one of the alleys in down town Columbia. I like how the color turned out.

I took this one over in Flat Branch Park. I love how the back ground just disappears.

Down on campus there is the really neat door by peace park, I try to shoot here whenever possible.

This one is of Kaitlin on campus near the columns on campus.

Finally, this one was taken on the steps on campus. I love the vintage tile in the background and the angle from which this was shot.

I'll be posting a lot more in the days to come. I have some catching up to do. I would love it if you left any comments or if you have any questions just ask me.
