Current Wedding Film

This weekend I'm trying to finish up the Wedding Film I'm working on for Jaime & Johnathan. Their wedding was a carnival themed wedding, which was very cool. Below is the intro to their wedding film. Now you are viewing a low resolution version of the intro so parts may appear jittery do to the conversion rate. I shot this wedding with High Definition cameras. With a total of four cameras covering the event.

Jaime & Johnathan haven't seen this piece yet, as they will be picking up their film this week before the holiday.

Comments welcome.

Ari is now 3 Months old!!

As a professional photographer and a father I find it sometimes hard to take time out to take pictures of my own children. That’s exactly what I did this morning. Ari, my youngest just turned 3 months old earlier this week. Therefore, I had to pull myself away from the computer (editing wedding films) and just take some photos of him. I didn’t do a very good job with Riston, now 9 & Tsion, now 4 while they were growing up, so I’m trying with Ari to stay on track with all his pictures. I’m doing my babies first year collection with him where I take pictures at 3 weeks, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and 1 year now all shot on location in the babies natural environment. I will finalize the collection with an album design showcasing the growth and development of the baby.

I currently have several baby first year collections in the works. So keep visiting my site and I’ll upload images as they come in. Meanwhile, you’ll get to see Ari, enjoy the photos, all comments welcome.

The photo above is probably my absolute favorite, this is so much like Ari!

Always with is mouth open, trying to talk or say that he is ready to eat again!

I love how the natural light falls off his body, who needs a studio anymore when you have a couch near a window?

Look at those eyes, compare my photos to other photographers, most of their images seem flat to me, whereas my images "pop" off the screen, don't you agree?

Ari loves his animal mobile, he just laughs and signs when it is playing.

Ari was trying to figure out why I keep holding something up to my face, if only he knew how beautiful he is!

As you can tell we love is Monkey outfit.

Jon's Senior Photos

I drove down to Jefferson City to take these photos of Jon. We stayed around the Governor's gardens and got some really cool shots.

This one was on the steps at the gardens.

The above photo was taken in the dark with my new D300 at 3200 ISO and cleaned up in Photoshop.

I like the feel of this photo, it has a little attitude and tons of expression with the surrounding scene.

Just a different shot, again trying something new and different each time I go out on assignments.

Jon told me that he really loves his watch so we incorporated in this photo.
Thanks for looking. Keep scrolling down to see all my recent senior sessions.
thanks,
Shannon

Ayron's Senior Pictures

I had a blast photographing Ayron's senior pictures. This kid was so much fun. Before each session I go over my style with the seniors, which is basically, be yourself. I didn't have to give much direction, Ayron was just able to deliver each time I took a shot.

Here is another multiple speed flash setup. Mainly, I'm just having fun and trying something new each time I go out. I come with no scrips or poses. Just my cameras and a couple of flashes if needed. I let the seniors be themselves.

The above picture was taken at dusk, with my new D300 at 3200 ISO, then cleaned up in photoshop.

Again, trying some different lighting techniques. You either love it or hate, however, I love it, so that is all that matters :)

We had so much fun with this hat.

So much passion and emotion. Thank you Ayron for having so much fun.

Kaylee turns 1 years old

It was Kaylee's birthday last week, so I had the pleasure of taking these photographs one day after she turned 1 years old.

Here we have Kesia, Chris, Kaylee, & Karen all enjoying a classic family moment.

Kesia & Kaylee get buried in leaves while trying to stay warm.

Kaylee & Karen take time out to share a mother daughter moment.

I love the picture of Kaylee playing in the leaves. I had to clean up the back ground as arms and legs were showing near her head.

I also love this picture taken with my 200 mm zoom lens.
Thanks for looking,
Shannon

Engagement Session

Heidi & Kyle are getting married next month in Florida. So be sure to check back for some destination photos from the beach. I hope the wedding is a lot warmer than the engagement session. Since we live in Missouri you never know what the weather is going to be like. Heidi & Kyle made the trip down from Kansas City to Boonville, to have these engagment photos taken. The session didn't last very long due to the weather, however, we got some really good shots in the short amount of time.

Senior Brothers

Here they are just goofing around.

Here are a few more pictures of some different lighting techniques.

Enjoy more of Max & Mason below.

Max' Senior Photos

Here are a couple of photos from Max' senior session also in Harrisburg, MO

I wish I could dunk, but at 5'9" I don't see that happening so I'll leave the dunking to Max.

Mason's Senior Pictures

Lisa called me at the beginning of the summer and asked me to make appointments for both Mason & Max, her Senior boys. We had a blast photographing around Harrisburg, MO back at the beginning of October. I just finished edited up the photos this weekend, below are a few photos from Mason's session.

I love the color in this photo of how the sky bleeds through the water.

Mason is also a baseball player. The black and white brings out the detail in the ball & glove.

I like the contrast between Mason's shirt and the building in the background.

Playing around with lighting, you can see one of my speed flashes on the floor.

Okay, I really love how this photo turned out. I used a three flash setup and put my camera in commander mode and got this photo inside the pitch black basketball court in Harrisburg.

Amanda & Derek September 6th 2008

This wedding was shot on September 6th, 2008. Amanda & Derek were a really fun couple. I had the pleasure of photographing this wedding with my business partner at Creative Studios, Johnny Eaker. It is extremely rare to find both of us at the same event. Since both of us were at this wedding I was able to spend a little more time with the groom getting some interesting shots of just him. I posted 34 images from this wedding, as I was having a hard time trying to delete anymore than this.

Here we have a classic mirror shot of the bride getting ready in black & white.

The wedding day is often fast pace, with the bride in motion above I think this is a good reminder of how photographers try to "stop time" so that you can relive it later.

These next four are of the flowers, which were absolutely incredible.

Here are some of the shots of just Derek getting ready and unique portraits of him.

I love that Derek's parents and brother are in the back ground, his family seems extremely close, so it was important to incorporate them into this photo. I wanted this image to tell more of story instead of just someone standing in front of pleasing scene

I have to give credit to Johnny for setting this bridal image up, when I saw it I knew I needed to take this picture.

What a beautiful father daughter moment.

The way the light was hitting the programs I knew this would make a powerful image about the anticipation and the building momentum of the wedding yet to come.

Every now and again I experiment here is my new depth of field portrait, bringing the focus to Derek, yet not forgetting that the groomsmen will always be there with him.

Another classic groom portrait.

The walls in the church are really this color! I loved it so much I knew Derek would contrast well against it, therefore, I had to use it :)

Here we have father of the bride watching his daughter put a few finishing touches on before heading out the door to walk down the aisle.

Amanda reads a note from Derek.

Derek seeing his bride for the first time that day as she walked down the aisle.

Together at last.

What a remarkable cake in the middle of the dance floor at the Columbia Country Club.

I stole these shots while Amanda & Derek were waiting to be announced at the reception.

First Dance
Here are some photo journalistic moments.
I love his face, not sure if he is happy or yelling at Amanda, but my wife and I laugh each time we look at it, it is one of my favorites.

Thank you Amanda & Derek for having us apart of your day.
